  • Hey, thanks for your comments, love this version too, i'm not sure, but it looks like it it was done at a charity concert but i don't know exactly where it was.

here are some comments from paul-simon.info

  • Baez, with her wonderful voice, filled Art Garfunkels space perfectly, although she didn't know the lyrics of the song very good - especially when Paul started to sing the later added verse 'Now they years are rolling...' Very funny performance. Paul said "This is better than Art Garfunkel" and Joan replied, "Where are the 500,000 people?"

  • love this version thank you. do you know where they performed it?

  • wow a new verse!

  • I am quite sure that this concert was in Berkeley, California on 10-30 1981, and not 1980 as the title indicates. Three reasons: 1) Joan's joke about the "half million" refers to the heralded S&G Concert in Central Park, which took place on September 19, 1981. 2) Paul's retort that the people were "in the hills" refers to the hills of Berkeley above the UC Berkeley amphitheatre. 3) I am pretty sure I was there, and that it was the "Bread & Roses Concert."

  • @coolanddark Yes, that was a joke. They repaired their friendship and had a big reunion tour in 2003 and 2004. In 2009 they toured again but the second leg was postponed and later completely canceled because of Arties voice problems. He is still waiting for his voice to recover.

  • way better than Artie!? I know he must have been joking. haha. right? Artie and Pauls voices blend perfect. to bad they cant get along.

  • not a bad effort

  • It's not perfect. That's why it is.
