As the title says. This is a retake of Richard Wagner's "Ride of the Valkyres" on the pipe organ at Manila Cathedral Basilica, however unlike my other youtube video of the same piece, the camera with its self contained sound recording device were downstairs about ten pews from the front - very far from the organ. The purpose is to secure the full effects of the very live accoustics inside the cathedral whereas with the other video, the mic and camera was very near the organ. There is a dramatic difference in sound when one hears the organ in the main sanctuary verses when one hears the piece very near to the organ.

  • I must be honest with you, as big as that pipe organ is, it will not 'shake the pews' like a EM Skinner, Austin, Moller or other big fat American instrument would. Yes, the 32' contra bombarde makes a big sound and provides big definition to the pedal, the only other 32' stop on that organ is a Resutant coming off of the 16' subbass. There are two 16' principal ranks in the facace and they are 'identical twins', one in the pedal and the other on the great....cheers....

  • Seems like this organ would be more like a Kimball, in that it's a HUGE, gorgeous sound, but not particularly loud...seems like a very fine instrument! And this is just fabulous, by the way...love this transcription!

  • Pity that your small camera/microphone can only give a slight impression of how the building must have been shaking with the sound of this magnificent instrument.

  • @dant2590 It's at Manila Cathedral at Intramuros, Manila, Philippines

  • does any one know the builder and specs on this organ?
