Betsey Johnson Fashion Week Spring '09 Collection

From the minute I entered the tent, I was tranported to Betsey-ville— a childrens candy shop/bakery! The music was thumping, but not your typical techno-dance songs, but Sesame Street tunes, sung by Grover, Ernie and Bert and Cookie Monster! As the show began, Betsey emerged with toddler granddaughters in tow—super cute. The collection reminded me of a childrens storybook—pinafores and puffy-sleeved floral dresses, an updated-Laura Ashley-vibe. Also featured were white lace petticoats and corsets, as well as pirate-inspired black and white stripe tops. I laughed at Betseys social commentary when the bridal portion of the show had models in white dresses with their wrists handcuffed behind them! By far, this was the most entertaining show!
