also, if you mow with it low and didn't install the lawn, you can buzz the ground. If you are in a bumpy spot, your blade can even hit the grass all the way down and start shaving dirt!
I wouldn't say cut at the highest setting. Every lawn has it's correct height setting. Cut a hybrid bermuda at 3 1/2 inches and it will develop a thatch layer from hell causing a fungal breeding ground. However at 1/2 inch a hybrid Bermuda will flourish. Most mowers highest height setting is at 3 1/2 inches which is fine for fescue. Cutting too high causes fungal problems and then it will REALLY look brown and dried out,
