This is the Abraham Lincoln/ reverse censorship skit which appears in the Intensive Bonus Session from Knock It Off 2. This was actually the first full skit that was filmed and edited for Knock It Off 2, way back in 2003. I felt like posting this up on here because I've been listening to the new Clutch album "Strange Cousins From The West" which features a song entitled "Abraham Lincoln", part of which you will actually hear during the De La Manga logo at the beginning of this skit. Go check out Clutch... They're awesome! So, as I was saying, that song reminded me of this skit, so I decided to post it up on here. It's one of my favorite skits that we've done, because I think this is really where the bar was raised quality and content wise compared to the simplicity of the skits in knock it off 1. It's also one of the most random skits, because it is a meshing of a few different ideas. The first idea was one that I had for Knock It off 1, which was never done, which was reverse censorship. The idea here was to take a normal scene and really poorly dub in curse words into the scene where there was none before, which would be the reverse of censorship. The second idea was for a skit in which Abraham Lincoln catches John Wilkes Booth whacking it, which actually leads JWB to kill Lincoln. Sort of a story behind the history. I always liked that idea, because you had to have at least an elementary level knowledge of U.S. history to be able to get the joke. So, you have a crude whacker joke skit, featuring historic figures, and leading to historic events. What's not to like about that? The third idea, which actually came about later in the editing process, was to over dub the skit with a really bad HBO style spanish translation and then put in english subtitles, because I love to make fun of how bad those dubs are. The skit was originally in english, but it is dubbed over in spanish, with english subtitles. Not too confusing, is it? All these different ideas were consolidated into one skit, because there needed to be some kind of scene to show reverse censorship, and I liked the Abe Lincoln idea. Then finally, we get to the last part of the skit which always confuses everyone. Right before the last part, I introduce "reverse censorship", but what we get is a silent movie version of the skit, which I find hilarious. Why is this? Well, the reason for that, which you can see in the first part of the skit from the count of the "fuckometer" is that we made the skit with so much cursing in it originally, so that we could over dub it with censorship for the second part, that there was really no room in the skit to add in any more cursing "reverse censorship" style. So, here it is, a skit that you probably won't like but that I think is pure genius. Enjoy!
