Fidy died suddenly July 16, 2009 from bloat, torsion, GDV. Bloat signs are subtle: foamy white vomit, restlessness, trying to vomit. If your dog shows these signs, get them to an emergency vet immediately (call ahead), minutes matter. If you have a large breed please do research on bloat, torsion and GDV. I also had a giant schnauzer who died suddenly of bloat 3 days ago. I understand your loss so well.

If I knew about this condition maybe he could be saved and could be alive now. Not even one veterinary told us about canine bloat, although it's the second killer of dogs, after cancer.

I'm glad the video helped. I think it reminds us that we are not alone in our pain. Just knowing your dog died of this sudden illness breaks my heart. One minute they're there and the next minute you have lost a great friend. This July 16 will be one year without Fidus. Although I now have two new rescue GSD's (Fidus would have wanted that), I still miss him so much. I try and give my new babies everything I took for granted with Fidus - he taught me a lot.

my dog ( a great dane) just died from bloat last night it started at 10:00 and we stayed outside with him till 1:00 and he was laying on the porch until his heart stopped. so sudden..

I am extremely sorry for your loss. It is such a tragedy when bloat takes away a friend so quickly. I still think about and miss my Fidy everyday. So sad.

Fidus was a beautiful dog so sorry for your loss We lost our 4 year old GSD Bach yesterday 10-24-10 from bloating we are devestated by his loss he was outside with us and his sister playing and enjoying his young life then within hours and with no warning he was gone I wish I knew about bloat maybe I could of done more for my dear friend I miss you and love you Bach run free in Heaven hopefully we will meet again one day.

With each dog's death, the world fades. Sorry that your dog passed away. All these diseases, conditions and complications can't allow us and animals to live for long. But if we fight back against these, then we may have a chance to stay alive. Everytime someone or something beloved dies, we lose hope. I have my dog and she is healthy, but she threw up last week and im paying attention to every moves she makes. Your dog must have done something really good to you. That could be why you miss them.

I lost my St. Bernard/Rottweiler mix to bloat this morning. I rescued him in July of 2001 and he was about 11 years old when he passed.. Thanks for the vid. I cried my way through it but it helped.
