After a few reports of stalled door open notices posted on the elevator, and a failed inspection certificate, we find out neither are true, or perhaps changed since their last trip.
It does ride worse yet. Now it struggles a bit on maintaining speed before leveling at 2, so it is no longer one spot where speed warbles a bit.
Still about the same going down, with a little more harmonic vibration.

========================
DEATH TRAP RATING: 2/10
* Big bang leveling at 2
* Delayed door open at 2
* Warbling speed approaching 2
* Rocks up AND now down
* Little bang and drop start of downward trip
* Harsh changes in speed

  • I was on it yesterday and the drops are worse now. Also the bell indicator on the first floor did a down signal but it was just a little bug because it only did it once. Also the bangs are worse as well. Maybe you should do another impact cam sometime.

  • Since the holiday rish is upon us, I was thinking the next Shock Cam video will be very early 2010. I want all those mad shoppers to wear this thing out, and do it well. Why am I not surprised that it's worse?

    January, so traffic is back to normal, and can get the elevator to myself.

  • Makes sense because I'm not doing much malls this December but I will be checking it.

  • I noticed the carpet isn't taught on the floor. When I recorded this video, I figured out why the camera is cockeyed: Great carpet install!!

  • When you could not see out the door the camera did not move! When you are in the elevator and you let it sit the doors open at about a centimeter. When you hit two or one the doors do not close that centimeter. Similar to the elevator at Twin City Plaza except when you start moving the door closes all the way.

  • I think the outers moved (shut), as well as the inners closed fully on the downward trip. I replayed the video a few times, and they shut tighter the trip down. The Meredith does stay ajar until it moves, then closes fully. A little tollerance play here and there.

  • When it just started up, as in, a jolt? That's just the hydraulic fluid being too cold. All hydros will do that if the fluid isn't heated enough. Run another lap, it'll jolt less, and less the next time. The Otis at 27 Monument Square definately suffers this fate as well.

  • I did make note of that possibility in the description, so don't think I called you out. The same thing happened with "Worcester's Death Trap Elevator" as well.

  • Also when it failed when it started on one it shook a lot. Like the ceiling would make a shaking noise.

  • They fixed it. When they fixed it after 90 days they put a new certificate and make it the same date.
