5-30-2010, Run & Gun at Ontelaune Rod and Gun. This is Stage 1.
I was using a Ruger GP-100 with a 6 inch barrel. It's a 6 shot 357 magnum revolver. The rounds I fired I handloaded myself. 147 grain XTreme .357 diameter plated bullets, mixed headstamp 38 special brass, 3 grains of Clays powder, and CCI small pistol primers. I'm going to only use Federal primers for competitions from now on though. Throughout the day I had several misfires. i.e. the hammer struck the primer and dimpled it but the primer did not ignite.
This was the last stage I did and it was my best stage of the day. I only missed 1 shot and my time was fairly decent.
This stage required the competitor to start while sitting on a toilet holding a roll of toilet paper without any ammo or his weapon. The ammo and weapon are on a table. At the sound of the buzzer, the competitor gets up, opens the door, gets his weapon and starts shooting. The orange you see are simulated hard cover that you may not shoot through. The white "tombstones" are "no shoots". If you hit them you are penalized 5 seconds. The stage has 15 cardboard targets that must each be hit twice. You are penalized 5 seconds for each miss. You are not penalized for hitting a target more times than necessary. There is no round limit.
This was my very first shooting competition. I had a great time and I highly recommend it to anyone interested.
Good shooting buddy. Stay at it.
