@Dishonor4019 Sure, the fanatical Islamic nature will always provide some of the violence but the main aspect IMO that we underestimated and did and in some ways still don't understand is the tribal nature in Iraq. Petraeus helped break a lot of ground in this but will it be enough? Time will tell.
