I wish Phil was still around to sing about all the crap going on in the world today!!! Miss you so much Phil!!!!!

Phil played Everywhere for free to oppose injustice and war, and that is no way to get rich. I met him in 68 a coffee house fundraiser for Gene McCarthy in the lead up to Chicago.Phil was playing for free, and the system was playing for keeps

@steveconn That's true, but the little colored girl digs it! I say "colored" not to be racist, but to capture the era;)
-
@r7yrb7 So true. I just discovered him yesterday on PBS and already I'm obsessed.

@ilyenkova Oh wow. I'd love to get my hands on there but fortune. Anymore information on their relationship? I read some looking through one of Dylan's biographies.
Did dylan really start become an ass post fame? like after his second album? why didn't he ever promote phil or anything!?! ugh

@TheEthanwashere The quote is from Phil Schumacher's bio of Phil: "There but for Fortune." Dylan was as you've read-- an egomaniacal asshole who cared more about being a "star" than about "protest music." He was attacking Phil for being "topical"-- like a billboard. He callously dumped Joan Baez on the London tour for the same reason.. Dylan wanted to be a celebrity; Phil Ochs wanted to be a troubadour of the movement for change.
-
@ilyenkova Wait what? Bob Dylan called Phil that? where did you get that from? from what I've read Bob Dylan was a fucking asshole and egomaniac of some sort- even though I like some of his music
Phil ochs is probably the least appreciated musical genius of our times. Type his name into the YouTube search engine and up pop 899 hits. Type Bob Dylan in, and the number baloons to 232,000. there is NO WAY Dylan was 233 times as good as Ochs!!!!!

A year later, FINALLY! "Occupy Wall Street, Occupy EVERYWHERE!"
And Phil Ochs was a prophet...
