  • You only need to wire so that the hum runs in the winter when the heat is called for. The heat is what is drying out the air in your home. Wire so hum turns on when heat turns on and in off season set the unit to bypass and turn off the single pole switch and water shut off associated with the hum. At least that is how I do it. Thanks for your comments ccpyue.

  • It is difficult for me to understand your writing, but if you are saying that you switch the humidistat to ON then yes it should come on--- weather it is calling for heat or not.

  • You want the hum to run only when the heat comes on because it will be running when your a/c is running in the summer. If it is wired up correctly it should run when the thermostat is set to the ON position rather than the AUTO position .

  • Hi, thanks for the posting of this video and part 2. Helps out a lot! Also, reading the post on diy forums...I'm thinking about getting this same unit for my home, I have a similar size home, but a little older, 1991. I believe it's pretty tight though. How has this unit been performing since you put it in? Do you feel more comfortable? I don't have any humidifier installed at all, so anything at this point will help. The IAQ unit looks like a nice feature.

  • @elkjaw @elkjaw Thanks for your post. I like the unit, it seems to be working fine. It will take a few days for the house to acclimate to the new humidity maybe 2 weeks. As the moisture in the air sinks into the woowork in the house your humidity will increase. I have a pellet stove running about 15 feet from the humidifier, so it has a tough time keeping up with the stove is running, but when the stove is off the humidity in the house gets to about 35%.

  • @doublewide6 What a hack job. If i did that kind of work I would not have any customers.

  • If we can have the humidifier wire so it only control by Fan and Humidistat, result: (1)In summer, we can set the humidistat to 0%. So Even the fan is ON, water solenoid will no open. (2)In winter, set humidistat to say 50%, and fan to ON, water solenoid open with blower ON and when humidity is low. (3)In winter, set blower fan to AUTO, water solenoid doesn't open until the Fan ON, means solenoid open only when the Heat called. I think this is the best wiring, but only I don't know how to wire.

  • Hi doublewide6, you pin point my problem! Now, even I switch the Fan to ON, and turn the hum thermostat to ON (max), the humidifier water solenoid doesn't open. Water solenoid open only and solely when furnace calling for heat. I have no control on humidity.

  • My hum now run only when the heat comes on. When the heat is not coming on, even I switch the blower fan on, and turn the humidistat to ON, still the water solenoid does not open. Is this right?

  • Thanks for your video. I just installed a new Honeywell HE225 to my Lennox G61MPV furnace by an installer in Toronto. But Humidifier works only when the furnace heat is kicking in. As soon as furnace stopped heating, this HE225 won't work. So my house is always dry. Is there a way to wire the humidifier to the furnace so that it works when Blower fan is on and the humidity is low?
