Exactly Like You

This is an old tune by Dorothy Fields & Jimmy McHugh. Here I'm playing my precious little cavaquinho, a four-string Brazilian guitar that's a little like a ukulele. For some reason I always play old American jazz on my cavaquinho but Brazilian music on my banjo!

wow your voice is supa-sweet. havent heard that style of singing in a long time. how did you get into cavaquinhos by the way? my wife is brazilian so i'm just curious. i'm dying to get but uke's gotta do for now.

I love Brasilian music and I play banjo in the same tuning as cavaquinho, so it was going to happen sooner or later! Uke is great too. I have a special affinity for tiny instruments. Lots of great uke videos on youtube.

How are you tuning this little guitar?

DGBD, which is actually the same way I tune my banjo. There are a few other tunings for it, but I understand this is the most common tuning.

Love it!!! This is one of my favorite songs to sing with my gypsy jazz band now, thanks for the inspiration! Digging the cavaquinho, works great with the jazzy tunes. I play mandolin and have been learning Brazilian choros over the last few years, fun stuff!
