Ah...but if you are allergic to dairy products, and you get a lot of mucous in your sinuses or lungs that can be a problem.

It's true, if you can sing you can sing
But if you can sing only lack of sleep and sickness would affect the voice
Not what you eat

@cleanmyroomforme Agree with you

@ovidiubobaila I dont think she meant it before the performance... And she is absolutely right! I never liked if someone is so missish. Before the performance and in this day is natural that you dont eat some type of food, or too much. And don't drink alcohol :-) But in your everyday life I dont think it deytroys everyone's voice. But it does not mean you eat oe drink too much from spicy foods. Btw a lot of opera singers smoke...And they are good. (i dont agree with this habit )

Wait till the fat lady sings :)

@ovidiubobaila The diaphragm can't push the viscera down all the way and make enough room for the lungs to naturally expand. There is a difference between a heavy meal and too much food. one gives you energy(meat, sauce, carbs), the other just over stuffs you.

from your answer I understand you have never performed. have a heavy meal and then go on stage and signs, see how it feels!
Singers who are hypochondriacs will always find reasons why they "don't sound good today". If you are nervous because you think you did something wrong, then it WILL affect you. Singing is mental, very mental! So be self aware of what makes you feel good. I love spicy food, but I don't eat it before singing simply because it gives me the burps! So be well rehearsed, well rested, and well fed! Done!
