Our Shuri-ryu kata Anaku as I had learned it in 1978. Here I perform at a 'comfortable' speed with nominal power for the purpose of allowing the movements to be more distinct. As with numerous kata in the Shuri-ryu style of karate, changes have occured. Mostly due to the reorganization of Shuri-ryu from it's earlier name of Shorei-ryu and with certain technique used to adapt to WUKO standards.

  • That's the way I do it but steeping back 2 times at the end

  • That's the way I do it

  • Ahhh.. I see the old USKA patch. I was a member many many years ago. We have a different version of Anaku as well as Wan Su as taught to me by James H. Hawkes Sensei co-founder of the United States Karate Alliance. I am also very aquainted with Robert Bowles Hanshi. Nice job. Thank you for sharing.

  • At the end of Anaku you have to step behind to the back, and step back again

  • When I was 12 I started studying Shuri Ryu Karate and I grew up in a poor family that could only afford lessons ever so often and now I live in Upstate South Carolina where there is no Shuri Ryu Dojo within 50 miles. So getting to see these kata bring back so many wonderful memories of my Shuri Ryu days. I can't begin to tell you how it enriches my heart to get to see the kata again.

  • Muy Bueno. Oss

  • nice job sensei, ive seen many masters doing it differently. but thats the one i was looking for.
