This video was taken by Susan Hammond in Bartonsville,VT. The iconic structure is washed away by Irenes flood waters.I do not own this I am posting it because it was hard to find!!!!

That covered bridge had a good roof.
In bridge builder Horace Kings day (mid 1800's), you just head down stream, salvage the wood, raise the supports a little higher (a few feet or so).
and build it back.

google 'bartonsville bridge photos' there are a lot of great pictures of the bridge while it was still up... Such a shame that it is gone.
