Lindsay Lohan to star in Charles Manson film

Hello on this Friday, March 28, 2008. I'm Rebecca Field with today's UPI entertainment update.

Lindsay Lohan is signing on for a film about murderer Charles Manson. Lohan will reportedly play cult follower Nancy Pittman in "Manson Girls." The movie's producer Brad Wyman confirmed the casting to E! News. There's no word on when the film will hit theaters. Lohan has been hard at work since her stint in rehab last year. She's also working on a comedy with Jack Black called "Ye Olde Times."

Ashlee Simpson is following in her big sister Jessica's footsteps...now taking on fashion design. The retailer Wet Seal says the singer is creating a line of T-shirts to be sold in their stores. The clothing chain says the t-shirts reflect her personality and unique sense of style. Fans can get their own Ashlee Simpson shirts starting April 22.

British Singer Leona Lewis is topping U.S. record charts. Her song "Bleeding Love" is number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart this week. That's Lewis' first time at the top of the list. Landing in second id Usher's release "Love in This Club" featuring Young Jeezy. Ray J and Yung Berg's "Sexy Can I" followed closely behind in the third spot.

Madonna says she'll only sing her classics for the big bucks. In an interview with a New York radio station, the star said she couldn't bring herself to sing hits like "Holiday" or "like a Virgin" unless someone gave her around 30 million dollars. The singer is heading on tour this fall for her new album "Hard Candy" which is set for a release April 29.

The latest spoof film "Superhero Movie" hits theaters today. Cast members like Drake Bell, Leslie Nielson and Pamela Anderson were at the film's premiere in Los Angeles last night. Similar to other parody's like "Meet the Spartans" and "Date Movie," the film makes fun of movies involving superheroes.

Did you listen to the audio of this video? They say that she was to play "Nancy Pittman", a Manson follower & she doesn't even appear to be attached to the movie, at all, anymore. Tate, as a character, doesn't even appear to be in the movie. The movie was obviously pushed back, however many times & was due out sometime this year but, probably won't be out until sometime next year, the way it looks now.
