The second volume of DC's Swamp Thing was Alan Moore's first North American comic gig. Overhauling the character's origin and adapting a new narrative, it basically saved the title and launched his career.
This is the first volume in a hardcover edition. Art by Stephen Bissette and John Totleben.

  • The answer is 12

    Work:

    12 ÷ 4 + 3²

    12 ÷ 4 + 9

    3 + 9

    =12

    I hope that's sufficient.

  • well done. i see your skills are still sharp.

  • I like this!

  • you'll have to do better than that. and show your work.

  • I am a big fan of swamp thing but it's really hard to find the origanal sieres execpet in a volume called dark genisses do you have it ? If you do why not compare alan moore's writing and the origanal seiries?

  • i don't have it but i'm aware of it and interested. actually, it's something i struggled with before doing this episode. i thought maybe it wouldn't be right to come on saying how great Moore's work on the title was without having read the earlier material myself. i would like to do do such a comparison in the future. thanks for your thoughts.

  • oh, i know my classics

  • yep instant classic

  • funny you should say that. I really think The Killing Joke is nothing special and it feels very un-Moore like to me. I know he himself doesn't think very highly of it. I hate to be a suck up or fanboy but must admit that not only do i like the majority of his work but also see him as head and shoulders above most other writers in the medium. Mike Carey is making a hell of a case for himself right now though...

  • I'm probably in the minority on this, but it was the LenWein/BerniWrightson initial run that I got into. Sacreligion being what it is or is it blasphemy....I was never into Moore. I can't say he's over-rated or anything, his work just never resonated with me, except 4 the Killing Joke.
