Dr Light is called Dr Right in Japan.
Same problem I guess.
-
It could be any of the 2... R and L are both the same letter in Japan and that could explain why 1 version is crash and the other is clash.
Though I believe it to be crashman as well...

@die4pie123 Game Boy version.
-
Crashman is a better name anyway, romanisation for the win.
-
1. It was more western than Rockman, plus Rockman is a stupid name.
2. They were continuing the western trend.
3. Jump over his air blades and IMMEDIATELY throw the leaf shield at him.

@SpykeMX but what I want to know is this....
How do you get Mega out of Rock?
How do you get Protoman out of Blues?
How do you beat Airman?!?!?!?!
that is all.

@AzureDreams777 Clash would make a bit more sense. I mean Wth was crashman built for. I'll tell you what: BATTLE!!! and another word for battle is clash.
-
@die4pie123 That's because it's the Game Boy version of Crash Man's song.
-
this isn't the theme i remember.

@KitsuneRaven well,on genisis the wily tower in wily wars says CL for crashman(cause it has the select weapon screen like megaman 3) and clementj642 said Crashman was called Clashman in japan.
Actually, Crashman was a misspelling of Clashman.

I always assumed "Clashman" was the error, since the NES version (Crashman) came first. How do you know/why do you think Crashman is the misspelled one?

@AzureDreams777
I originally assumed Clashman was the right translation istead of Crashman, but I've been to a translation site and the Japanese word for Clash is gekitotsu, while the word for Crash is kurasshu. Crashman's original name is Kurasshuman.

@xservintage Yes, but Airman's Japanese name is still "Airman," even though "air" is a different word in Japanese. All the robot master names are in English, and R and L are indistinguishable in Japanese, so "kurasshu" could mean "Clash" as well. It's pointless to argue which one is correct, since it just depends on how you read it.
