Individually cropping multiple images (rectangular) to square can be done in a batch process. At the same time, thumbnails can be made for database, batch color correction, batch cropped, and detailed (large # of pixels) LP cover images can be placed on the web. The four software(s) used in this vid are JPEG Crops, http://ekot.dk/programmer/JPEGCrops/ (and please send the developer a couple of bucks) Google Picasa, Microsoft Word (Table function) Google Picasa Web Albums and Google URL Shortener. The JPEG Crops program is for Windows, and I'm running it on Win 7.

(PLEASE NOTE: I've used Jpegcrops in Windows7. It worked fine on one computer and was very quirky, but totally usable, on another. Until I update the video, send me a message and I'll tell you the work around for batch cropping)

I made this video as I have photographed and databased my almost 3000 record collection. After doing cropping on just a dozen album pictures, I thought there must be a better way.... It is unbelievable that the only digital cameras offering square format cost $700 and up. Even the cheapest ones out there offer many different formats, all rectangular.

If you are going to use batch cropping, OF COURSE all the LP Album covers MUST be in exactly the same location, and the camera EXACTLY in the same location, for each shot. I have a video of the set up I use for that, which includes a method for reducing reflections on glossy or shrink wrapped albums:

Important for using JPEG Crops software: I'm not sure how many images can be cropped at once. I do know that my 1mg per image jpegs made the program stall at about 500 images, so since then, I've been doing 300 at a time with no problem. Perhaps smaller jpeg files will mean you can crop more images at once.
