Kate: Daddy why is Mommies belly so big in this photo?
I smiled at my 7 year old daughter Kate, as she looked at a photo of her mother.
Joe: because you were playing hide and seek when you were a little wee baby and you hid in her tummy!
I chuckled slightly as Kate's eyes widened. I put her photo album back on her drawer, and tucked her into her pink canopy bed. She looked so much like her mother it always seized to amaze me.
Kate: tell me about her Daddy. Tell me the story!
I smiled and began to tell Kate the age appropriate story on how her mother and father met.
Joe: well once upon a time, a beautiful young woman with brown eyes and brown hair walked into a music shop looking for the newest Hot Chelle Rae album.
Kate: which was Mommy right?
I nodded and continued the story, as Kate listened inventively.
Joe: She asked this handsome guy who was working there where she would find it and he helped her find the cd she wanted.
Kate: that was you right?
Joe: yes baby.
Kate: you're cocky Daddy.
I smiled at her and she giggled.
Joe: so the beautiful women went to her car and put her cd in playing the music and decided to go to the coffee shop, she really wanted a
Kate/Joe: caramel latte
Kate and I said together, she knew everything that happened by now.
Joe: Yes and the boy who was working in the shop had just finished work and he went to the coffee shop too, and he ordered his black coffee. He noticed it was the beautiful girl and when she went to pay he beat her to the register and paid for both his and her coffee. She was very happy and thanked the boy and invited him to sit with her.
Kate: you were very nice Daddy.
Kate said smiling; I smiled and kissed her head.
Joe: then the girl and the boy kissed on the um cheek, yes the cheek and held hands all night on the couch yes the couch.
I said not wanting to explain to my little girl what really happened.
Kate: and then, I hid in her tummy?
Joe: yes after a few months you hid in her tummy and the man and the women got married.
Kate: and then I came out of hiding.
Joe: yes, you did baby girl.
Kate: but then the girl got sick didn't she.
I nodded, Demi died in labour, but I couldn't say that to Kate.
Kate: Daddy does Mommy love me?
Joe: yes baby she loves you a lot
Kate: how much?
Joe: more than life itself.
Kate: wow. I love her too.
Joe: me three.
I tucked Kate in and kissed her head before turning off the light and heading to my room, I kissed my beautiful wife's photo and lay on her side of the bed, falling asleep where I dreamt of all the happy moment I had with Demi, Demi my guardian angel.
Updaduff09 here kinda struggling with ideas for one shots, so I'm sorry this is terrible.
