This one is really for myself. "Debris", a song written by Ronnie Lane, for his father, from the 1972 Faces album, "A Nod's As Good As A Wink" (to a blind horse). This has been a long time favourite of mine, and now that I'm a little older and wiser, seems even more significant. Clip show for fun, mainly scenes of London with a few additions. I hope you like it.

  • Thank you for putting this up. I still have the original 33, bought it the day it came out, that tells you a little about how long I have been around. In the top 5 of my all time favorite albums. JR

  • @nashvilletexas Thanks JR, still have a copy myself, I first heard it at the school youth club as a spotty fifteen year old...I still love it today..

  • I still miss Ronnie, Rip, a true gent

  • @stepenwolf7 ..me too m8, indeed, a true gent..

  • mr lane clearly had a social conscience & was very working class judging by this song, it just goes to show not all people in the south east are greedy & shallow?

  • @scouserla1 ...haha..agreed, but unfortunately you will find shallow & greedy people all over the world, an attitude that is greatly encouraged by TV..

  • @formaface Speaking of Steve Marriott, I think Ronnie had him partly in mind when he wrote this. I know the official story is that it was about Ronnie's dad at the jumble sales and on the dole line, but there are elements of this that strongly recall the Marriott/Lane relationship. "I don't know what you would have done without me hanging around". And Ron was left on the debris by Steve.

Congrats to both the Small Faces and the Faces for their joint Rock and Roll Hall of Fame nomination.

  • Thank You.

This song means so much to me.
