Ari Rasilainen, conductor
Timo-Veikko Valve, cello
Veli Kujala, accordion

Madetoja: Symphony No. 3
Virtaperko: Double Concerto for cello, accordion
and orchestra (world première performance)
Sibelius: Finlandia

The special Independence Day concert features an interesting work by the young Finnish composer Olli Virtaperko: a double concerto for cello, accordion and orchestra with ace soloists Timo-Veikko Valve and Veli Kujala. Representing more traditional repertoire in the concert conducted by Ari Rasilainen is the Symphony No. 3 by Leevi Madetoja, and crowning the day is Jean Sibelius's Finlandia.
