The DSP CW Peaking Filter (DBF) on the FT-857D is incredibly effective. I have owned another FT-857 and that had the YF-122C, 500Hz and YF-122CN, 300Hz filters in. But, when you use this DBF, it makes you wonder is it worth spending the extra on the Collins filters? The width of the DSP filter can be set to 240Hz,120Hz or 60Hz and considering its "only" AF DSP, not IF, it's really very good indeed - just what you need when the bands are crowded.
