As precipitation out ahead of the main disturbance moves through the state, a process known as "evaporational cooling" comes into play. Thanks to this, we got some moderate snow around lunchtime, but there was only a dusting... which melted within an hour. The thunderstorm seen moving across Lake Michigan and then splitting during the second and third local forecasts brought 1-5" inches of hail through southeastern Wisconsin.
