North Yorkshire Moors Railway Spring Steam Gala, Monday 3rd May 2010

For the first 3 weekends in May the North Yorkshire Moors Railway held its biggest Spring Steam Gala, with a large amount of Visiting engines including LNER A4 Pacific Class 60019 Bittern and a large amount of resident engines including newly overhauled LMS Black Five 45428 Eric Treacy

The Gala had a mouth-watering initial quest list, which originally included GWR King Class 6024 King Edward 1st however in the end the locomotive didnt go to the event, each day of the gala had a different theme, todays theme was meant to be Giants Day, with a roster of;

LNER A4 Class 60019 Bittern (On Loan From Jeremy Hosking)
LMS 5MT Black Five 44871 (On Loan From Ian Riley)
LMS 5MT Black Five 45407 (As Above)

This seemed the best day to visit through-out the gala, however on the cold and mixed weather (including some hail) the roster was a little different, with only 5 engines running (60019, 1744, 44871, 45407, 76079 and diesel D5061) I got a bit disappointed as I have never seen the Super D running before and not had a decent look at 53809, and the fact that 45428 had just been overhauled and was not running surely put a few visitors to the event in a disheartened mood, but still I had an enjoyable day at the NYMR gala, despite the downturns

In this video it only features D5061, 60019, 44871 and 76079, I did intent on filming more but due to the weather I found it hard to film and didnt want to ruin my camcorder, also see a new shot for me, I decieded to go and see 60019 at Darnholme, but in the end 44871 turned up! Still put on a decent show climbing the last few yards up to Goathland station

very good footage mate keep it up update for u from 08/05/10 N2 failed, freight was cancelled problems with 45428, the class 25 was doing Levisham Shuttles as 76079 was needed to cover the N2 turns so that day 53809,45407,44871,76079,60019 was running

Shame about 4528 Eric Treacy and Super D not running and the best video of the gala ive seen so far. keep up the good work

Good vid. I went on the Sunday and that was a damp squib in terms of engines. Still got a good shot of the N2 with the teaks at Darholme.

Good video here mate, looked like a good gala even if half the engines didn't run sadly, I liked the shot of the black 5 at Darnholme she made a good sound up there. Also liked the shot of the standard arrving into grosmont good video here mate keep up the good work

@GWRDec Hells bells it was cold on the sunday. batteries didnt last long nor did I , to cold. As others has said shame about the mutiple steam failings, As I left to return home Repton was taken out of service. Good videos thanks for posting.
