  • HI

    Love your video.

What is your thoughts about the screaming eagle heads?

I have heard a lot of good and bad, about them.

    What cam do you use?

    Have you changed the lifters/pushrods?

Any idea of the amount of hp and tq?

    Feels good?

    Thanxz

    Lars

  • @gummybearkiller1 I only had good thing to say about the SE heads. I really haven't heard anything bad. Feel free to share.

I went with the Andrews TW21G cams.

I changed the pushrods but not the lifters. No idea about HP or Torque to be honest.. it was a very nice improvement over the stock setup that's for sure.. especially when packing a passenger. It's nice and smooth and all the power is in the lower RPM's where most people spend most of their time.

  • Coating the threads with oil will give you an inaccurate torque.

  • How inaccurate? Just curious.. had all kinds of comments on these Harley wrenching videos.. seems like everyone has an opinon.. but never heard this one. Can you back this up with any documentation? Just curious how inaccurate this would make the torque reading? Seems like everything including blinking in the opposite direction of the rotation of the earth on a full moon while you are holding the wrench can affect your torque readings. Almost impossible to get a consistent opinion.

  • You don't know anything! You're almost right, but you have to be facing due west while blinking in the opposite direction! Sheeesh.

I'm never sure with torque specs, and I don't worry my old fat head over it too much. I've heard that the best way to really define what's going on is to measure the bolt tension determined by bolt stretch. I've only heard of ultrasonic methods to do this but have never seen it.

Thanks for taking the time to take and post the videos!

  • av8rdav, you should always coat any head bolt or stud with oil and the surface the bolt contacts. this provides slip so the fastener wont seize to the mating surface. if you don't lubricate the fastener it will seize to the head giving you giving you a higher torque reading when the fastener is acutualy not torqued enough. this is basic engine rebuilding knowledge and is the same thru out the industry. doesnt matter if its Harley, Chevy, or Yamaha.

  • The service manual always comes in handy... By the way, how long have you spent modding Harleys, annway?
