This clip is the first of Philanthromedia's four featured speakers from a Thursday evening event at Cooper Union, hosted by World Hunger Year (WHY) called Step up to the Plate: Ending the Food Crisis. Alice Waters, an Author, Chef and locavore, spoke about a real life solution to childhood hunger.
Her suggestion: build a system into our public schools that provides for a free breakfast, lunch and early dinner for every child in the system. Alice also advocated for a responsible food system to help us rethink our relationship to food in this country.

Alice Waters is the definition of a "Limousine Liberal". She thinks everyone can afford expensive food like she can, has plenty of free time to cook slowly like she can, and can grow food year-round like she can.
Irony is that her precious garden would be a desert had it not been for all that water that is piped in from Colorado. That's not exactly "buying local" now, is it?
I prefer to eat fresh too, but Alice thinks everyone is as lucky as she is. She is MOCKING us with her wealth!
