This is the part of the city that doesn't get shown to touring dignitaries. Vast tracts of the city of Chicago look just like this - vacant lots, boarded-up stores, packs of kids skipping school ...

We start in South Austin, and pass through West Garfield Park into East Garfield Park.

Wow. That was upsetting, not the neiborhood, that fact that you just stereotyped every kid in that neighborhood as a useless, and truant. Oak Park has the same amount of kids strolling around most of the time and not many would say these things about them. This is'nt to say this neiborhood does not have problems. But to imply that these kids are not worth schooling. I'm sure you'll try to defend yourself here, maybe you need to listen again to what you said, and how someone else might hear it.

In no way did I or would I ever imply that any kid is not "worth schooling." I can't even conceive of that possibility - but you, apparently, can.

I can only be responsible for what I said, not for how someone with an evident bias hears it. Ask yourself whether anything critical you heard was directed at the school system rather than at the kids.

I will say the speculations on what the people ( Kids ) were doing were unneccesary, though the video was well put together. Maybe not racist, but definitley stereotypical and biast against black neighborhoods.

It's pretty pathetic how it's always about white and black... It doesn't matter whether it's poor white trash or poor black trash, there's a problem with the mind set that many of these people with critical comments don't seem to understand. The Madison St. Ghetto is the most lively place in all of Chicago! Nice place & the vibrant people should be respected. So they have a different way of living but hey its still the hood, and it is a great hood.
