Same here. The gameplay is still easily as good as Galaxy series.

I actually think the game has aged quite well, along with Ocarina of Time. But I will admit the NES Zelda's aged terribly.

I just realized that the Super Smash bros melee select screen is basically a remix of this theme.

Yeah, I love them also, but think they've aged poorly. Maybe it's different if I were born in 1980 though.

Well, I guess everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but I personally still find this game very fun to play! But I fully agree on the soundtrack part :-)

Its a really good game. If you want to play it before you buy it, just download a Nintendo DS emulator, then download a ROM for Super Mario 64 DS.

Snowman's Lost his head was my 2nd to last star. My older bro had N64 imported to UK before its release so it was japanese. I got every star minus the peach secret slide (under 21 seconds), I have no idea how I worked them all out age 9 either. It was always a surprise to find them hidden in the worlds -lacking element of the linear ones.

I still don't know how I ever figured out some of those things as kids. I somehow managed to get every star, no guide, and only had a friend help me get the one where you had to return the snowman's body or whatever.

Same, I mean, the linear 3d games like Galaxy are in line with old Mario. But, I feel being able to explore as Mario and not be funneled along is a lot more fun. Learning in Wet Dry World you could change water levels, never being sure how to get to certain areas was a lot of fun.I played M64 in Japanese originally and finished the game without realising the sunken ship was even able to be raised
