@rupertbunyip Those are called bucking straps or back cinches, yes they can cause a horse to buck but through it being annoying, not painful, don't forget the do BAREBACK broncs aswell, no backstraps there.

I love how all the rodeo fanatics completely overlook the flank straps on all of these horses.

Those poor horses! They no 2 be wild and free and then get a weird thing dumped on there back!!!!! TRhe cowboys/girls deserve what comews to them (not death just injuries) !

Most rodeo horses aren't treated cruelly. They're just like race horses when it comes to their care. These horses have either never been rode or people have tried and they won't stop bucking, etc. They aren't mistreated to make them react that way to being rode.

Rodeos are a great place... Sure there's some things I dont like such as the calf roping, but here's how i look at it: the people are riding the horses, which they love doing, the horses are throwing whatever's on them, which is natural.
It was Bryan Adams song!!!! D:

I'm sorry to tell you little campaigners that MOST rodeo horses are NOT wild horses, they are usually Quarter horses/mustangs who have been TRAINED to buck.
Look up JK Rodeos 'Brother' and his accident, he had an accident in the trailer and was almost put down, they tried to retire him and he refused, had a serious operation and is now back BRONCING. Rodeo horses work around 10 minutes their entire lives as cowboys stay on for 8 SECONDS only, yet us schooling our horses for 40 minutes is good?
