Well my suspicion was correct, it had a bad PATA ribbon to the hard drive. Whoever thought it was a good idea to smash all the wires under the drives liek that was an idiot. I've got a temporary fix in it right now, ordered a new ribbon, which should be here soon. With that fixed though, the computer runs great!

  • My stepson got himself one of these systems today and so far it seems to be working great .I came here to see if i could find anything about them i should be aware of so thanks for the heads up on the ribbon cable being crammed tightly under the hardware. My main concern when i first saw his was cooling. Being small like they are is cooling a problem or have you never had any issue with your system. Thanks for sharing your video and take care.

  • @Hollrobb Sorry for the late response. Cooling is not much of an issue with this computer. Its parts don't get incredibly hot. Just don't be leaving it on all day and all night. Turn it off when it doesn't need to be on. Will save you money too.

  • I changed the cd rom in my thinkcentre, and cant get the ribbon, (Just like the one you had there) to fit. On the motherboard is a 30 pin and on the ribbon is 40 pin, how is this? I'm pretty sure I took it out of the same socket, can you help?

  • @TheLASTTABOO sound's like you mixed up the CD drive ribbon with the floppy drive ribbon. The one for the floppy drive is a bit smaller.
