There are two implications at work from that lyric.

First, it shows how out-of-touch Foucault is with what's going on in the modern world. He deals with the Real, and post-modern philosophy is beyond him.

Secondly, the song is dealing with a lot of Derridean "marks" with references to longitude, the inability for the two to understand one another, and explores the division between Self and Other they experience when Foucault is selling out his own personal philosophy.

If this is hipster music, then paint me on a moustache and call me a hipster. I've loved the Weakerthans since 2005, when a friend played A Plea from a Cat Named Virtue. This song brings back fond memories of my tiny dorm room complete with mini muffins cooked in the toaster oven, a Hawaiian print shower curtain for a closet door, and tripping over my roommate's plate of pizza (it stayed on the floor for about a month because she was too busy clubbing to pick it up). Good times :)
