Britain's Victoria Pendleton completed a flawless performance at the world championships when she clinched her third gold medal after powering to victory in the women's keirin. Pendleton's triumph was a fitting finale to the British gold rush in Palma, where the team topped the medals table with seven golds.

@S1aptasticSquadalah It paces the field for the first few laps of the race. As the race progresses, the bike gradually gains speed, allowing the competitors behind to do so. When there are a handful of laps left, that bike pulls off, and the race really begins. It acts sort of like a pace (or safety) car in a car race, with some noticeable differences.

in the us you'd get dq for taking yr hands off the brs. i watched some poor cat 2 lose his place in a series for doing this.

Its a shame that in olympic cycling, there are more events fo the men than there are for the women. If Victoria had the chance to compete for 3 medals like Chris Hoy did, it would have been gold in each one and it would have been Dame Victoria Pendelton.
