The pshyco not only ruined Vanderlei's race but Baldini's victory too, because we'll never know if the Italian would make it without the incident. In fact we only think yes or no.
Vanderlei actually was turned in an Olympic icon as Dorando Petri, ironically an Italian as Baldini.

Being the event it is, running the race this man was running, knowing he was not going to finish first no matter the incident, to me the meaning of this act was close to terrorism. The bravery of this man is amazing. Recognizing also the quality of the winner and runner up, knowing this is an isolated incident of a loser, hoping this guy has no family to ashame, to me in this race Bronze is more than gold !
