I think Carter is a good man but he was not a good president IMO. He wasn't the worst contrary to popular opininon. His present day activities make up for his lackluster term in office.

@Slikcoolio Not really; in the millenial generation, polls say that socialism is as popular as capitalism. However, I suspect that this is simply because of conservative overuse of the word to describe good things that they oppose more than anything else. If you tell people that being a good person, helping the poor, and being tolerant of your fellow man is socialism, after a while, people are probably going to believe you, and think that socialism is a pretty damn good thing.

Jimmy Carter was good on foreign policy but the economy tanked while he was in office. Whether or not it was due to his policies is something that is up for debate but to call Carter an abject failure like Bush would be inaccurate.

Carter was the best American president of the latter half of the 20th century. Hands down. And as to previous comments, America could indeed use a little left turn.

I wouldn't really say they "made-up" for his mistakes in the presidency but I agree, he is a good hearted man.
