  • "Diane, I'm going to go murder some people."

  • This was NOT the planned ending of the series! The writers left a bunch of cliffhangers (bank explosion, Ben Horne is Donna's dad, etc.), like they had done at the end of the first season, to try to convince ABC to get them a final season. The third season was already being planned out. However, ratings had dropped so much that ABC ended up cancelling it.

I hope this is some sort of consolation to everyone.

  • I_WANT_SEASON_THREE XD

BTW seriously, the fact that the series ended so soon is not so bad, think about x-files that got so stretched that the last seasons were simply awful, but at least a third ending season was absolutely needed!

  • @DrSpikeSpiegel Someone needs to write a book or make an animated feature that properly ends the show.

  • The Ending: ABC cancelled the series because the story line did not appeal enough to the people buying soap and tires. Lynch did what Lynch does; he was given lemons and made ambrosia. Of course the ending is ambiguous. That ending is what he could do within the corporate structure of that and our current time.

  • I actually like this ending. How is it made, but the story sux.

  • Anyone else think Kyle McLaughlin is old enough to return to the black lodge??

  • I agree with most of the comments here, extremely disappointing that ABC didn't give it more of a chance. There have been whispers on Twitter regarding a mini-series to revisit Twin Peaks, and a couple of years ago Kyle expressed an interest in returning as Cooper, but alas... rumours are just rumours until someone does something about it, and what hope do we have after 20 years of waiting for the 3 hours of deleted scenes from Fire Walk With Me! On the plus side, I'm enjoying the weekly rele

  • It seems that Coop's unfortunate choice in rooms in the lodge unveiled his doppleganger, Earle and also, BOB. It's fair to say, that at some point, the "good" version of Coop ended up trapped in the lodge. I'd hazard a guess that the Annie that ended up outside was the "good" version... it seems only BOB and Mike are able to possess anyone at any time.

  • The real Annie was seen in the lodge, also the real Windom Earle as I can tell, as their eyes were clearly their normal colour, if this can be used as a reference for the "real" version of that person. For example; Annie with the real eyes and Earle, though wanting to kill Coop were still "honest" with Coop without seeming maniacal. Also, the "real" Laura is present as well as the "crazy" doppleganger.

  • For example, when BOB left Leland earlier in the show, we see that Leland returned to normal before he died. This means that somewhere in the "evil" version of that person, the good does still exist. Also, in the final episode, we see that Leland's doppelganger is still in the black lodge, meaning the real Leland was the one that died and his doppelganger returned to the lodge at some point.

  • there is a popular interpretation that goes; Coop's soul was annihilated when he ran from his doppelganger in the black lodge, as Hawk says at one point (and I paraphrase) that if one faces his true demons in the black lodge and cowers, his soul will be annihilated. However, this is an ancient interpretation I feel, as it's assumed that anyone exiting there many years ago, maybe only saw the doppelganger of that person and not the "trapped" version.
