It's funny enough watching this video on its own. I mean you clicked on this video to watch it, you knew what you were expecting. But what was it like when this just aired on people's TVs? Just watching your favorite show when suddenly a man starts staring at you for a minute. You wonder what evil spirit is possessing your TV until he turns around and you find out that this hardcore badass is actually running for the Presidency.

I understand now. All political campaign messaging is essentially meaningless. What really matters is the personal connection between the candidate and the audience. Additionally, even if we succeed in our chosen cause, in the broader scheme of things, our actions have as little lasting impact as throwing a rock in a pond. However, it is the act itself which gives our lives their meaning.

I remember when this video first aired during the 2004 elections. I commented on how idiotic it was and a wasted chance to tell the voters about himself. Gravel's supporters came out of the wood works, defending him and saying how profound the video really was. I just shook my head and laughed.
