Camille is spot on. Chastity Bono has been professionally gay her whole life. After her band failed, she came out and, using her mother's name, was quickly adopted by the gay Hollywood political establishment.

Now that lesbianism is so mainstream as to be boring, Chastity wakes up one day and finds out she's a man! With a book! And a tv show! Illiterate and uneducated, she's invited around to talk shows as if she's some serious thinker. Forgive Camille and me for our jaundiced eyes.

Camille's right. Chastity Bono wasn't miserable because she was "born in the wrong body", whatever that means. Ms.Bono said, "I always hated my body." It makes sense to me that a chubby girl growing up in the shadow of a beautiful mother who is world famous for her constant, very public, very purient near nudity would have body image issues. If your shoes are too tight, your not comfortable in your shoes. What does it mean to be uncomfortable in your own body? There's something deeper here.

Paglia was never obsessed with Sontag. She did, however, call Sontag out for claiming she didn't know who Paglia was for several years after her bestseller came out. She is not ill; she has very powerful opinions on hot-button issues, which by the way she backs up with factual evidence and historical precedent. She has balls and tells it like it is. She is absolutely worth paying attention to - unlike you. You apparently have an axe to grind, and you follow Paglia around to grind it.
