I have never been bitten. Thanks for the comment. I don't think walkimg barefoot increases my chances of being struck. I could be wrong. But the moccsin I see are above the water and swim that way as well. I've had water snakes go under around me often, but they aren't venomous so... But I've had plenty moccasin strike at me. Hopefully, I have been a good judge at distance and body language and not just lucky ;)
