This is some footage that Andy Tate shot at "the old swimming hole" (aka Rocky Creek Rise), while revisiting his home town of Perry, Florida back in 1993.

Andy says that nobody he knows has ever found the bottom of that swimming hole. A hazard of the area is that, in true Florida fashion, alligators can be seen hanging out from time to time!

UPDATE: As many commentaries on this video have pointed out, this place is no longer fit for swimming. Unfortunately, people have turned this area into basically a trash dump. What a shame. Thanks again to Andy for capturing this moment in time back when Rocky Creek Rise was still a wonderful place to spend a lazy summer afternoon.

  • I live in perry and I can tell you, The Rise is not a good swimming hole, trust me, if you actually saw it you would not jump in, not to mention the kids who've died there.

  • Yea... Please keep in mind that this footage was shot about 15 years ago and things have changed. MANY people report that this swimming hole has gotten stagnant and algae filled since the folks in this video called it their swimming hole.

  • what r u talking about i went fishing at the rise a year ago caught some good fish but it wasnt red?

  • Yeah I live here in Perry Florida & The Rise is very well known for deaths..I took one look in it & the water was Red, not somethin u see everyday...

  • @FloridaSlipknot No, I know where you're talking about though. I drove past it a bunch of times when I worked on the road department. I lived down by Keaton Beach, about a 5 minute drive from the coast. The Beach Bar was down by dead man's curve on Co Rt. 361.

  • @mgospeed31

  • wow, ive been to perry a lot and NEVER ive seen that place!!! it looks older now than in that vid.... anyway, to me it seems like something someone that waz born there would do it bcz i have a friend ova there and shes a TOMBOY

  • I lived in Perry from 2006-2007. I lived by The Beach Bar. When I first moved to Perry, a bunch of people got some kind of infection from swimming at Rocky Creek. I never did. I tried moving back to Perry last year, but the economy has gone to shit in Perry. A bunch of businesses closed, and jobs were scarce. I wound up having to move back home. Oh well. I'll try and visit again sometime.

  • except for those damn bugs and the humidity haha but it really is a nice place

  • cool...I go there cuz my grandpa lives there and usually during the summer you'll find us at johnsons bakery or huddle house in the morning
