this was fantastic. thank you for keeping this alive. i had a young girl ask me what the may pole dance was...i told her girls dressed in their finest and...well i had to send a Youtube for a visual...this one is fabulous. keep the tradition alive..i see the young men have now joined in and i have seen one at the old time faires...thank you so very much...too bad they took it from the schools.

the maypole dance used to be a traditional in elementary schools in the USA in spring(1950's)-until John F Kennedy required mandatory physical education, and spring celebrations quickly were replace(ala Russina) with gymnastic shows instead-too bad

In my country nicaragua we celebrate this its called palo de mayo. it has almost the same pricipale but it is also something radically different.

When I was in grade school in the 80s we used to celebrate May Day, it was one of my favorite days. Great memories.
