A six-minute impression of what a Hawkwind gig is like... This one had Nik Turner guesting, which is probably why they did Brainstorm and Master of the Universe.

Band line-up: Dave Brock, Jerry Richards, Richard Chadwick, Harvey Bainbridge, Nik Turner, Keith Kniveton.

Venue: The Coliseum, St Austell, Cornwall: 12 Nov 1999. Videoed from the audience.

  • Yes, that is what it is like at a Hawkwind gig, except the sound was better, ahaha, you just have to have been there, its is kind of too late if you've never saw them.

  • well, maybe not... i'm gonna see them next week :)

  • This looks alot like the 'Hawkestra' gig, hope theyre playing in this years 'Eastern haze' festival-I drove from Holyhead to fucking Lowestoft to see them, just made it too - they came on 1 hour after I arrived.

  • Dunno if this was a 'Hawkestra' gig, I never saw any posters for it but I think it was just HW + Nik as a guest. I did catch the Brixton 2000 'Hawkestra' and that had loads of them involved. Almost 20 people on stage for Silver Machine!

  • One of the best Hwakwind gigs I'v been to

  • Indeed. I bet they made a lot of people smile!

  • This is great. I just getting into Hawkwind at this time, I went to the Norwich gig of this tour, and then later to the Birkenhead re-union show, and then the Hawkestra and the "Yule Ritual". This video represents good memories for me, thanks.

It's a shame things didn't pan out like they could have done since then, but the whole Hawkwind scene still has a great legacy that will be enjoyed for many years to come.

May their orbits never decay ..

  • i' waslucky to see them 3 times in the 90s..

    great to see these vids

  • bloody hell! had almost forgotten i was there , the solar 550s looked amazing ..seem to remember a stgasaurus sax player comming through the crowd ......

  • First band I ever saw in 1980 'Levitation' tour at St Austell Colleseum

  • Yeah that was a good night - very trippy indeed. Thanks for the video.
