Z80-chip music from ZX SPECTRUM 48Kb.
Many people think that attaching AY chip into ZX Spectrum was a regress. AY has only 3 channels of sound and pretty simple square-wave-based synthesis, whereas music generated by Spectrum's native sound-source: Z80 chip (with help of ULA chip) was expandable to even 8 channels (software mixing) and it was able to generate really interesting envelopes.
This music has been written by Ben Daglish. It's in style of kinda art-rock/proggressive rock (also called progrock). I strongly doubt it would sound so good on AY's simple square-wave synthesis.
Also please note that emulation of Z80/beeper sound isn't ideal.

  • I'm just amazed you could get all this from the "beep chip".

  • @telemetry9 That's actually an old-school song from 80s, from a game. However contemporary BEEPER musicians can do such or even better things. :) Take this, for example :) 8bc.org/music/MISTER+BEEP/Greetings+to+C64/

  • the channel mixing is surprisingly clean for channel mixing!
