The DSLR-AGCY was developed to allow disabling of the Auto Gain Control in Canon and other similar HD DSLR cameras. This cable allows you to split your audio tracks. One end of the cable is used to stream a continuous tone from an iPod or other mp3 player to the camera. This fools the camera into lowering the audio gain. The other end of the cable is used to connect a microphone or preamp to the camera. Only one channel is recorded but that is easily resolved in post production by deleting the "tone" channel and duplicating your "good" channel. This provides a solution to the cameras' lack of manual audio controls. TRS 3.5mm Mini Male to 1 TRS 3.5mm Mini Male and 1 TRS 3.5mm Mini Female. 1 Foot.

  • hi sorry to be a pain, but again ive noticed in the video u plug the sescom cable into the camera with the two loose ends and you plug one into a mp player and one into a audio recorder, but thats not right because the sescom cable has an input on there so how can you plug it into two devices? then i did notice then at 0:44 the input you done into the audio device is the side you origianlly put into the camera? im so confused by this tutorial

  • @newhousefilmsuk No worries, the input for the mic is shown with a male adapter to work with the field recorder. If you had a mic or recorder with a 3.5mm male cable, you would just plug it into the Sescom cable without the adapter. Sorry for any confusion. Hope this helps!

  • Hi you say this cable works with the canon 7D but as in the video you plug it into a Canon 7D then show the T2i, so does this work with the canon 7D as u cant control audio manually with the 7D

  • @newhousefilmsuk Yes the cable works with the 7D. The T2i is used here just to show the audio level coming in from the cable. We have had good results using this setup.

  • Would this cable work with a Canon 7D and BeachTek DXA-4 adapter?

  • @Beyond90Seconds While I have not actually tried that particular setup, in theory I don't see any reason why not. The Sescom cable would just go inline between the BeachTek box and the camera. Let me know how you make out if you try this!

  • @newhousefilmsuk You are correct. If the cord is flipped with two danglers from a 7D, your audio will probably peak. The cord is marked camera. That end goes into the camera the other end marked LINE goes to your audio device.

  • I feel like there's some confusion going on out there. I own a T3i and I keep spotting people saying "it has manual control so you don't have to worry about AGC." That's not true. It gives you manual control of your audio levels, but the AGC never stops functioning. I've been using an MKE 400 and all I hear is that irritating bed of hiss. The AGC is very much alive.

  • Canon was surprised hot the video "feature' intended to be an occasional thing, was taken very seriously and used my filmakers. We now have to spend a fortune in all kinds of devices making this camera far from practical or portable for pro video by having to take all that shit with us......I hope Canon 5D Mark III will come with headphone jacks, audio meter visible at all times and at least an unbalanced audio inputs.

  • @MarkertekVideoSupply I appreciate the fast response. I probably will give this a shot. Would be glad to let you know how it goes. Thanks for making this product.
