I come from Iceland and that is by far the best pronunciation of the word I've ever heard from someone who is not Icelandic. All the reporters from UK fail big time with the word.

In België zegt men nieuwsanker en daar is niets mis mee omdat dat personen zijn die meer doen dan alleen het nieuws lezen, ze zijn ook het gezicht van het programma.

@nickvth2010 Jep, helaas staat het ook in de Dikke Van Dale. Goed Nederlands dus... 't klinkt niet goed, maar het is correct...

@dzjoer, two things:
1. It's "News Anchor" and not "News Anker"
2. The pronunciation of Eyjafjallajökull was rather slow but almost perfect
So I guess we can conclude you made a couple of mistakes but he didn't :P

1. You're right. This was a matter of Dunglish or Nenglish: in Dutch it is "nieuwsanker".
2. An Icelandic friend of mine found his pronunciation hilarious.
3. In my eyes he didn't. Jan never ever makes mistakes in my own private little universe ;)
