I'm trying to find the answer of my own question too; but it already takes me for almost a year and I still really have no idea what was that reason. I don't want to believe what the others told me that there is no reason at all for this sort of things.

I don't know when this song came out, but it perfectly described the situation I had with a coworker. I was sure we were soulmates, but I wasn't the one for her (but I know it was difficult for her). I lived in the Chicago area at the time too and continued to think of her for many years asking why I wasn't the one for her. My someday did come though and I found out why I wasn't meant for her.
