John Carter - Movie Trailer: The film tells the story of war-weary, former military captain John Carter (Taylor Kitsch), who is inexplicably transported to Mars where he becomes reluctantly embroiled in a conflict of epic proportions amongst the inhabitants of the planet, including Tars Tarkas (Willem Dafoe) and the captivating Princess Dejah Thoris (Lynn Collins). In a world on the brink of collapse, Carter rediscovers his humanity when he realizes that the survival of Barsoom and its people rests in his hands. John Carter comes to theaters March 9th, 2012 and stars Mark Strong, Willem Dafoe, Ciarán Hinds, Bryan Cranston, Dominic West, Polly Walker, Thomas Haden Church, Taylor Kitsch. The film is directed by Andrew Stanton.

  • Well the book called "John Carter of Mars" was written in 1964, Ralokone is right about the characters birthday. He first appeared in the story "Under the Moons of Mars" (published 1912) which was retitled "A Princess of Mars" and published in hard cover in 1917. So it does predate all of the movies mentioned in the earlier post by a long shot.
