Channel 11 finally got their image right...a hyper pace with an ounce of grace. It's by far the best news image in the 'Burgh right now. The only thing I hate about channel 11's style is that they use cut transitions WAY too much. Wouldn't it hurt to do some dissolves every once in a while, like right after this amazing open, instead of doing a jarring cut?

It's the old chopper. Pet peeve of mine... apparently no one else is bothered enough to change it. The 5pm/6pm show opens feature the current chopper, which is a Bell.

I saw Chopper 11 in the opening, and it looks like an AS-350. Do they still use that model, or did they switch to a Bell 206?

KXAS uses Tower V.3, which is much better than V.2.

i was back home visiting family in new castle when i saw this. i so love it. wthr in indianapolis used to use it for their 11 pm intro and i have to say, its is way more appropriate for the 'burgh than in indy. i hope wthr can learn a thing or two from wpxi when they update their old theme.

I suspect that is partly because with Ignite everything is coded early. In the "old days" the tape playback operator could, on the fly, suggest dissolves when/where necessary while cueing the tapes up.

Hey, you got anything from the FOX news ten produced by 11 ever since they went in HD? I heard they're still using Deadlines for the music so it'd be interesting to see that open? Thanks. :)

Yeah, they're still using Deadlines. It's like going high definition while you're in black and white. It's terrible. I'll try to post their open tonight.
