Richard Dawson reminds viewers that nighttime "Feud" now airs 5x/week (the first GS to air simultaneously in network daytime and daily syndication!).

  • Did the announcer said "Family 4"?

  • @Mech1360 - No, he said "Channel 4".

  • Earlier in 1980, ABC moved the daytime "Feud" to 12:00noon ET where many affiliates aired local news instead. The nighttime expansion to five nights came at a good time for cities where the daytime version was not seen.

  • The V/O at the end of this promo was Arthur Gary.

  • Every single contestant depicted in this advertisement is FEMALE. Did they do that on purpose?

  • @spbosch2 That move took place on June 30, 1980, the Monday following the cancellation of the $20,000 Pyramid, which had previously been on at noon ET. Family Feud up until that point was seen at 11:30 am ET

  • I remember in the True Hollywood Story episode on the Feud, it was mentioned that the daytime Feud (at least its peak) was cleared on 99% of the ABC stations nationwide. I know in Hartford-New Haven (reading old TV Guide posts), WTHN didn't carry daytime Feud, but carried the nighttime show.

  • Yep. I remember reading Edge of Night being aired on WKBS 48 instead, and I remember WTAF 29 picking up daytime Feud after WPVI began preempting it.

  • @johnissoevil - Yeah, WPVI was notorious for their pre-emptions of ABC's daytime shows...The Edge of Night and MG '90 were among the network series Ch. 6 declined to carry.

  • I don't believe daytime Feud was preempted in as many cities as other network game shows were. Philadelphia happened to be one of those rare cities where it was preempted after 1983.

  • Speaking of the year 1980, can someone please do something about the episode of "Family Feud" from November 14th, 1980??
