can you spread the seed all over the field i think it will be easier than drop them in the hole...

1. The reason that they put the seeds in the hole because they want it to grow in bundle. It is easier to harvest.

2. The seeds burried deep in the ground to have stronger roots and make it harder for the plant to fall.

3. It make harder for birds and ants to carry the seed away.

no actually that's less efficient. the seeds don't get covered and you'd have to use more seed.
